2016 '1968'
These own-rooted, gnarled Pinot Noir vines are all that remains of the original plantings at Dick Erath’s Chehalem Mountain Vineyard site. This particular block was planted in 1968 and today produces an elegant, structured wine with fine tannins. Older vines offer stability in a way that younger vines do not - deep roots reach through multiple layers of soil to draw character and complexity to a consistently small crop. This wine is our tribute to the pioneers of the Willamette Valley, 50 years later. It is our duty to respect this heritage and to ensure these old vines are valued and celebrated.
